The Classic Cue-Length Rule

Add 1.5 metres (≈5 ft) of clearance on every side of your table when using a standard 57-inch cue. That extra space equals one cue length plus typical arm extension, giving you a full stroke without tapping the wall.

Pro note: Modern Malaysian apartments sometimes swap one 57-inch cue for a 48-inch “condo cue” along the tightest wall. That saves 23 cm of clearance without impacting casual play.

How to Measure Your Room in 3 Minutes

Step 1 – Clear the floor
Push movable furniture aside so your tape measure can lie flat.

Step 2 – Measure long & short walls
Write down the greatest length and the tightest width—rooms are rarely perfect rectangles.

Step 3 – Subtract table dimensions + 3 m
• For a 7-ft table, subtract 2 m from each measurement.
• For an 8-ft table, subtract 2.25 m.
If both results stay positive, congratulations—your table fits with full 57″ cues.

Fast check: If only one wall is short, plan for a single 48″ cue on that side.
